Dress Code

Dress Code for Golf Course.  The clothing in golf is a part of the decorum of the game, perhaps more so than any other sport. Not only is there an unspoken etiquette, but most golf courses have a dress code that requires particular attire in order to play. These dress codes are designed to ensure that amateur players adhere to a certain protocol to help maintain the game’s traditions. The following shall be applied to all members, tournament participant and non-member guests in GCCJ:

  1.    Men.  

            a.    Sports/golf shirts with collar & sleeves (Short/Long) or turtleneck shirts may be worn.

            b.    Shirts must be tucked in at the waist with trousers/shorts with belt.

            c.    Shorts should be below knee length and must be worn with socks.

            d.    Long trousers/walking type shorts below knee may be worn.

      2.    Women.         

            a.    Golf shirts, tailored slacks, turtleneck blouses/sweater, long trousers or shorts       with belt/skirts at knee length are permitted.

            b.    Sleeveless shirts, blouses and other dresses must have collars.

      3.    Footwear.      

            a.    Participants must put on proper golf shoes with soft spikes. Golf shoes with iron spikes and PT or Jogging shoes are not allowed.

            b.    Footwear with hard/iron spikes or the other type that may damage the course is not permitted on the golf course or on the practice areas under any circumstances.

      4.    Hats.

            a.    Golf hats usually are not specified in a dress code, but certain headgear is more appropriate. Baseball-style hats or visors, for men and women, are the most popular on a golf course.

            b.    Their primary function is to help provide protection from the sun. Straw hats of many varieties and what are known as Ben Hogan caps also are permitted.

            c.    Headgear such as cowboy hats, dress fedora-style hats, beanie caps and gag hats are generally not appropriate for a golf courses.

      5.    Unacceptable Dresses and Gears.

            a.    Track suits, round neck shirts, sweat pants, cut-offs or beachwear, sandal/sleeper without back strap, cleats, raised heels or hard spikes and Jeans are not allowed in the Golf Course.

            b.    Golf headdress, including hats, visors and headbands are permitted in the clubhouse only. Golfers are requested to remove their headdress in the dressing room.

            c.    Dresses like shorts, kurta with trousers, half sleeve panjabi type or likewise, sandals/shoes with belt/snickers or likewise, round – neck shirts or likewise is prohibited in the Club.
